Coach of the Month


United Soccer Academy is proud of the highly qualified and knowledgeable coaches that provide effective youth soccer education to thousands of players every month.  We constantly monitor and evaluate the performances of our coaches.  These on-field coaching assessments are used to identify the highest level performers each month.  Here we recognize the best of the best with the announcement of our ‘Coach of the Month’.

USA coach of the month winner:

Dean Walters, July 2010.
Dean Walters has received the accolade of ‘Coach of the Month’ for his excellent coaching on both our summer camps programs, and on our ‘Summer Development Soccer’ program.  Congratulations Dean!
United Soccer Academy’s ‘Summer Development Soccer’ program brings together the more motivated and committed players in the region to play on a select team throughout the summer.  Girls and boys teams are selected in age groups from U9 to U15, and they practice and play tournaments throughout June and July.  Summer 2010 was very successful for United Soccer Academy Summer Development Soccer, with no fewer than 9 tournament champion successes!  For more about the SDS program click here.

Past Winners:

Mark Shiels
Mark has coached at a consistently high level on the field during the month of May.  He always brings energy to all his soccer coaching and in addition he has an obvious love of the game.  Something of a ‘natural’, Mark is enthusiastic coaching across a variety of age groups.  Mark coaches boys travel teams at Watchung Hills Soccer Association, and intramural players at Somerset Hills Soccer Club and Mount Olive Soccer Club.

Josh Harris Brown
Josh brings heaps of energy and enthusiasm to all his coaching, whether working with 3 year olds on our ‘Soccer Squirts’ program, or when coaching a U14 boys travel team.  He possesses a thorough understanding of the game of soccer, and in addition has considerable coaching know-how, so it’s hardly surprising Josh is one of our Coaches of the Month for May.  Josh works with travel teams from Vineland Soccer Association, Falls Soccer Club and Langhorne Athletic Association, where he coaches boys and girls team aged from 9 to 14 years.

Gloria is Coach of the Month for April for her outstanding soccer coaching with young players from 3 to 11 years old.  She brings heaps of energy and enthusiasm to her sessions.  On top of her lively nature and obvious love for the game, she demonstrates sound technical understanding and is always available to work with individuals to ensure all players are progressing.  Players who work with Gloria can be certain that practices will be both fun and instructional!

Hannah deserves the Coach of the Month accolade for her impressive work with our youngest players, aged from 3 to 5 year olds.  In addition to coaching Soccer Squirts classes, Hannah also coaches on our Sports Squirts classes with our sister company the US Sports Institute.  These classes introduce 3 to 5 year olds to sports such as soccer, basketball, lacrosse, T-ball and hockey.  Whatever the sport, Hannah can always be relied upon to bring her organizational skills and abundant energy to the session.  The games she employs are engaging and fun, and the young players go away with improved skills and can’t wait to come back next week!
