David Platt: England vs. Belgium, 1990

With England looking at possible elimination from the 1990 World Cup in Italy it needed something special to put them through....Enter David Platt.

Paul Gascoigne lined up a free-kick and was initially planning on having a shot at goal but a quick shout from the England Manager, Sir Bobby Robson, and Gascoigne changed his mind. The free-kick was perfectly flighted into the right hand side of Belgium's penalty area. Platt evaded his marked and watched as the ball came over his right shoulder before spinning and hitting a technically brilliant volley in to the far corner. A true show of exceptional technique.
