Gregory Coupet: Lyon vs. Barcelona, 1999

Gregory Coupet is a French goalkeeper who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain. Coupet had spells at Saint-Etienne, Lyon and Athletico Madrid before moving to PSG. Coupet played for France 34 times in his 9 year spell with the national team before retiring from International Soccer in 2010. In 2005 Coupet was voted in the top 10 World's Best Goalkeeper Award eventually finishing 4th behind Petr Cech, Dida and Gianluigi Buffon respectively.

During the 1999/00 season Lyon faced a tough test against high flying Barcelona in the Champions League. With Coupet unable to use his hands after receiving a high back pass from his defender he had to use another body part to stop an own goal. Coupet dove at ball and headed a certain own goal onto his own cross bar. His work wasn't done then, the ball bounced off the cross bar straight into the path of Rivaldo who powered a header towards the corner. Coupet showed us how important speed and reactions are as he dives to his right to save the resulting header. A true show of quick thinking, speed, reaction and agility.
