Peter Schmeichel nicknamed "The Great Dane" is a former Denmark International goalkeeper with 129 Caps to his name. and was voted the "World's Best Goalkeeper" in 1992 and 1993. Schmeichel played for Manchester United, Sporting Lisbon, Aston Villa & Manchester City. He is best remembered for his most successful years at English club Manchester United, whom he captained to the 1999 UEFA Champions League to complete The Treble.

Saving a downward header is one of the hardest saves for a goalkeeper to make. Only the real best can save in such a manner. This save has been be likened to that of Gordon Banks' in the 1970 World Cup due to the similarity and technical difficulty of the save.
