Peter Schmeichel: Manchester City vs. Liverpool, 2003

Peter Schmeichel nicknamed "The Great Dane" is a former Denmark International goalkeeper with 129 Caps to his name. and was voted the "World's Best Goalkeeper" in 1992 and 1993. Schmeichel played for Manchester United, Sporting Lisbon, Aston Villa & Machester City. He is best remembered for his most successful years at English club Manchester United, whom he captained to the 1999 UEFA Champions League to complete The Treble.

In the twilight of his career and in his last season in professional soccer Peter Schmeichel had time to make one more world class save. With Liverpool pushing for a Champions League spot 3 points against Manchester City would of done them the world of good. Schmeichel had different ideas. El Hadji Diouf looked to have beaten Schmeichel at the far post only for The Great Dane to push the shot on to the cross bar then gratefully clutch to his chest. Manchester City went on to win this game and Liverpool ultimately missed out on that Champions League spot.
